Long Term Users-Side Effects?
Hello Everyone. New here so forgive me if I’m starting a topic that has been discussed.
I have been dosing with the regular leaf powder 3 times a day for over 3 years. At this time, I don’t notice any long Term side effects. Except for sometimes peeing a lot after dosing and the usual effects after taking too much.
But I was wondering, from daily users taking the powder 3 years or more if they have noticed serious health side effects? I have read that long term usage can cause liver and kidney damage and I don’t have any idea of how common that is. Curious to hear from you, thanks.
I'm not sure. I've been using Kratom off and on for 6 years now iv. Haven't noticed anything. I do tend to take breaks every so often. But Im not too worried about long term effects, I just feel Kratom isn't a powerful enough substance to warrent severe side effects. Just don't abuse the leaf is all I can say really.
I believe this thread was commented on before we switched to the new site ...
My thoughts are , everyone is diff , and will have varying results both beneficial and negative . I’ve been taking approx 30 gm everyday for the past 4 years , only taking 2 breaks lasting a couple of days.
From what I understand , kratom is pretty friendly on the liver , even folks with liver disease have taken kratom regularly and their blood tests ( from what I remember) even showed improvement.
Always listen to your body , drink lots of water and add some electrolytes , eat healthy foods ... get some sun and fresh air ....!move your body as much as you can ....
If there’s any worries or negative symptoms, cut back on your daily serving and frequency amount . And get your blood tested to see if all is well. I’ve heard that it’s extremely rare for any liver issues to occur, that Amy signs of this happening would show up relatively fast when taking kratom regularly. In these very rare instances, stopping kratom halted and reversed this problem . I can’t overstate enough how very rare this happens ... and which may be caused by a underlying health problem.
Ive been thriving and feel like I have a new lease on life because of kratom’s benefits. Helps me move with lowered pain , stamps out anxiety and depression related to my chronic pain because my pain is cut down tremendously, safe to say anywhere from 70-90% less pain day to day .
Always listen to your body , hydrate more than you normally would when taking kratom . Any digestion issues can be helped by setting salad, veggies , fruit and taking magnesium citrate. Also..... drinking tea versus taking powder has its own added benefits of not ingesting all the leaf material .... that will help constipation problem with your GI track.
Traditional use of kratom in Malaysia with long term use is based on drinking tea or chewing on a leaf briefly and then spitting it out . Long term ingestion of powdered leaf hasn’t been studied enough to my knowledge, and appears to be the route ( me included ) many folks take outside of its traditional use .
I feel kratom has a big safety margin , and as long as you take the least amount to get relief or benefits and keep your frequency as low as possible (ideally lol) .... your setting yourself up for long term success .
I’ll take 3-5 servings of kratom a day , 4-5.5 gms per serving , the worst side effects I’ve experienced is a headache if I haven’t had enough water ... (after drinking a couple glasses the headache went away pretty fast ) and slight constipation ... which really only happened a few times during my first few months of taking kratom. Haven’t had any issues with digestion since I’ve kept hydration up and eat salad regularly along with the occasional magnesium supplement.
This is all from personal anecdotal experience, and from many others sharing similar stories .
take care ✊🙏

i go to all my doctors and get regular blood work. overall kratom has helped my levels more than hurt. one thing may not have anything to do with another, but i think thats unlikely.
i do take various other herbals as well and havent had any side effects from any. rarely take any traditional scripts or even over the counter products either.
been a regular user for a couple years now, and right now my doses average 2-3g per dose 2-3 times a day. and there was a time my doses averaged 8g or so and i needed a reset to change that, but still no side effects. im not saying it cant happen, im no doctor or medical professional, but taking akuamma with kratom lets just say is better for most than taking acedomenophen ( sorry sp?) and codine. IMO less chance of side effects, dependance, and easier to get!
I guess it's been about 2 years that I have been taking it daily, usually like twice a day. I usually take about 6 grams a dose. Once around 5 am as I pain forces me to get up about that time, then again that afternoon which can vary from as early as noon and as late as 5 pm.
I had tried to increase my dose going as high as 9 to 10 grams but my stomach told me hold on dude that is too much so I backed down to the 5 to 6 gram amount and that seems to be the right amount for me.
Obviously my tolerance as increased but it still seems effective against my pain even though the "other" effects aka the buzziness or how ever you describe it is not has obvious. Odd but that can vary day today. That is I take the same amount at the same time and the exact same Kratom and one day the effect seems stronger and the next day visa versa.
I take it the same way, that is I mix the powder with coffee or water and mix in some milk then drink it down.
Anyway after this couple of years of daily use no side effects have been noticed by this one armed old man.
Hey @michele373 , how you doing sweetie ? Yeah , your tolerance break was very inspiring... I still consider taking one on occasion lol,I just cant afford not to function at high capacity without my beloved leaf 😎✊🍂

@michele373 long time no 🤗 🤗 🤗
I hope you and your family are doing well up yonder.
Liz told me that it snowed in RI last week. 😱
I think only crazy people live up there. After all, most of my family does. 🤪
My Grandkids say I’m a cuckoo head. 😉
Yeah all is ok just working alot. Still trying to sort out family stuff.
Yes Don! Snowed further upstate in ct too! 30s to 70s. Lovely!
Brandon I totally get it! Would I have been able to reset when working,? Hello no! That's why I did it in a month off. If course no one knew a few months later most of us would have some time free. Like they say. You want to make God laugh? Make plans...
Hugs to everyone!
I have had some kidney issues in the past 2-3 yrs. I’m in my 8th year. Use leaf more than I should sometimes (when I’d probably be fine without it, sometimes I take it again anyway - stuff like that). Each time my dr yells at me about it, I quit meds and kratom for 24 hours, pee again and the issues. That is a definite thumbs up for taking breaks. I’m due to take another break because they missed one test last time. My dr is super thorough. Nothing I mean nothing gets by her. It’s the kidney results, but I’m only off by a couple of digits here and there and my nurse friends have seen labs like mine and it’s considered to be normal. I’ve been eating chocolate and ice cream and not hitting the salads since the sad demise of the grocery store/restaurant salad bar. I’ve been adding cucumbers and carrots but also full calorie Pepsi and cokes recently. Haven’t had those in ages. Moderation, excess fluids (I’m back to waters or sparkling waters) and ditch the Easter candy...take breaks...GET LAB WORK. Never have had a liver issue at all. 👩🏻🦳
Have a wee bit better day!
