Senator Orr says...
Kratom is similar to spice drugs. And Alabama police say it's as bad as heroin. Something I think any recovering addict would know is a load of rubbish.
I think the American Kratom Association needs to educate these people on what they are trying to ban.
And don't you just love this logic:
“Basically what happens with these new laws to make this stuff illegal is we say if it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it is a duck according to the law,” Matson said. “When you have something that people are using to replace a heroin addiction, it’s just as bad as the heroin. That needs to be illegal.”
Very disappointing that of all things happening in today's world that Kratom, and substances of it's likeness, are the focal point of certain state governments. Then again I would certainly hope that anyone reading an article on a website that is advertising plastic surgery and "find old yearbook photo's" wouldn't take its content serious but unfortunately the first thing people read tends to be the truth they believe in  ... Sad but all we can do is fight it with facts and slowly but surely everything will turn around, similar to how they are now finally giving into the legalizing marijuana. I don't think any drug should be taken for recreation use but when there is a medicinal benefit its a little ridiculous to keep it illegal for so long. Lets just hope it doesn't take nearly as long for Kratom and other natural remedies that we might not be aware of.
Unbelievable ignorance running rampant at high speed. Journalists aren't researching topics anymore. Senators aren't educated on topics they are speaking on! America used to have ethics in truth! Free speech is fine, but at LEAST google the subject good and hard before you write an article or make a speech on a topic?! Seems like a logical idea. Research it or at least say, "I don't know. I haven't looked into that thoroughly yet"? Researching is more time consuming due to the lack of truth on the Internet, sadly. Scammers and misinformation is the FIRST thing you come to on the Internet. It takes time to find the truth. Nobody takes the proper time to present their position on a topic if they only read the first thing that comes up on a Google search. I'm so proud of the AKA and friends on here - educating friends, familu, neighbors, coworkers...not EVERYONE is receptive. Big Pharma had a head start on brainwashing the world to rely on them. It will be a difficult journey to combat that damage.
Have a wee bit better day!
I like the part where it says kratom can be smoked like spice. REALLY? That's news to me. It's very sad how these people latch on like a leach because they think they are being so righteous, and they think they are going to help all these people by banning something they think is a "substitute" for heroin. Ignorance IS running rampant and it's just sad.
You are absolutely right, Laurie.
Comfrey, my other favorite medicinal plant.
It looks like ignorance and hysteria has partially won today in Alabama, as the bill was rammed through the Senate in an obscene fashion.
Aimee, that almost never happens! Thank you 🙂
Sounds like we are up against a LOT of ignorance and more speaking before researching. I am praying the AKA representatives are treated properly this next go round. That sort of behavior they were subject to is unconscionable! Keep up the prayers, letters (respectful and short) and support the AKA! These people have no idea they are just freely supporting Big Pharma (in many cases). Education with grace is a job I admire more than ANY OTHER. I couldn't do it half as well!
Have a wee bit better day!
