IMHO - Kratom Like Many Drugs is Best Not Taken Daily
I just changed the title from "Kratom like any Drug is best when not taken daily" to "Kratom like many drugs is best not taken daily"
And the part above the ++++++++++ is an edit because of some comments that have been made in the thread.
Reason why is that I looked up the definition of a Drug and thought about it and realized that many drugs should be taken daily. For example if you have a heart condition and are prescribed a medicine it should be taken daily.
This thread is directed more for those who are taking it recreationally or for a medical condition but might be able to get by with less use.It may or may not be practical to use for Pain Relief 2-3 times a week and use something else on the off days.
What I was thinking about is drugs like Alcohol, Benzos, Marijuana even Opiates. Any of these if taken occasionally are fine but is taken daily and abused are very negative"
I have a bottle of Xanax on my shelf. I used to take 1mg per day for 10 years. But my Doctor said that it might cause a cognitive decline as I'm in my late 50s. So I quit Xanax by the way Kratom helped me do that .
Now I still have a bottle of Xanax on my shelf. Last time I took one was 3 weeks ago. And I now take it once in a blue moon. Xanax is no longer harmful because I take it infrequently.
I'm not much of a Drinker but someone who drinks maybe 3 times a week and in moderation is not doing themselves much harm and some studies show it might even be healthy. But a person drinking every day and in copious quantities becomes an Alcoholic and ruins their life.
This thread made me think deeply why I take Kratom. I'm Bipolar with Anxiety Disorder. Kratom elevates my mood. It also takes away anxiety. In a sense I take it recreationally to feel good but in another sense I'm taking it medicinally.
But the thrust of the thread is to relay my experience that I can take 2-3 times a week and avoid negative symptoms that I had when I was taking it daily. With the hope that some may benefit from my experience and take Kratom in moderation instead of Chronically.
By the way everyone is different. If you are taking for pain management, opiate withdrawal, or a medical condition I understand that my experience/advice may not apply to you.
Around a year ago i worked myself up to a daily habit of 15g to 22g a day. It had some negative affects. It messed up my memory. Problems with writing. Words that should have been familiar weren't. Spelling was difficult. Also I needed to take it every day or I'd go into withdrawal. Severe anxiety.
I didn't want to be addicted to Kratom and was scared about what it was doing to my mind so I decided to quit Kratom.
It was pretty easy:
I tapered down to 2g a day within a week. Then was on 2-3g a day for a month. Finally Cold Turkey which was extremely mild. On the 3rd day I was feeling strong aches and pains. Took some Ibuprofren and all was copacetic.
After around a year decided to try Kratom again but this time to take it 2x a week and no more than 3x a week. Been doing it this way for about a month and I'm not noticing the Cognitive Issues that I had before.
Also I don't feel the need for a daily fix and I haven't been experiencing withdrawal symptoms on the off days.
IMHO Kratom like many drugs is best not taken Daily.
