Capsules vs Drinking power
I recently found out an interesting thing about myself. That is while I claim that the Kratom taste like crap it seems preferable to drink it rather than the capsules.
I mean I have tried various solutions to mix in the powder. Initially juices but the sweet seem to conflict with the bitter. Right now my preferred mix is with some coffee then add in some milk and drink that down. Of course I'd be whining about the taste and say how yukky it was etc.
I mean when I started on Kratom it was because of a motorcycle accident and issues dealing with pain. Whole my My dosage as actually decreased in the last few months I think I have the right balance in my life. So I still drink a couple of cups of my coffee kratom each day, and I still am whining about the taste.
I then I thought hey why not get some capsules and not deal with the taste. Since I am too cheap to buy kratom in capsules I ended up devising a pretty cool way to fill capsules myself.
But the odd thing is that even with the same amounts, maybe even a bit more it was not as effective as doing my drink thing.
This is what I think is going on, and yes, I am analyzing myself but what I think is going on is my brain has associated the flavor of kratom with the reduction of pain and thus even thought my tolerance is pretty far up there, just having a taste of the kratom in my mouth kicks in some sort of mental memory and even though I am using like 40% less than at the height of my usage, the taste alone kicks in those memory cells.
So When I take even a greater amount with capsules there is far less satisfaction / relieve than with the drink. And yes I still think it taste like crap but it works.
However the capsules are useful when I am traveling.
I have even tried the black tar-y extract and same thing less relieve the standard method I have evolved to ingest that ole yukky kratom.
The human mind is an interesting thing
A couple of things come to mind ..
Aside from traditional use as drinking in Tea form, Indonesians also will chew a raw leaf briefly and spit it out . One of the routes of mechanism here is through the easy absorption of alkaloids in your mouth . I like to take kratom sublingually , I’ll toss my powder under my tongue and let my saliva saturate the powder . As my friend from Benni Botanicals said “make mud”… I’ll keep this mud in my mouth for 3-5 minutes, after which I’ll swish it around and drink water to get it down. The benefits are felt faster by getting a head start on absorption.
By contrast to capsules, they dissolve unevenly in your stomach, talking much longer to incur the relief .
Caps are easy to take when out and about, for me that’s the only practical use for them .
You can also put a tiny bit of water in your mouth before attempting to take sublingually …. Just remember to breathe through your nose till the powder has been wetted down .
I used to mix my serving in Grape fruit juice, which I still like but has been left in the dust by the sublingual route. 😎
Thx for the thread Pat,
Thats great you’ve been mindful in experiencing how the delivery of kratom ingestion varies based on method of consumption. 🍂
Life is better with Kratom
😎🍃kratom saves lives 🍃😎
I totally get it and have observed my own placebo effects!
I’ve been on a totally different journey recently and am discovering new ways my brain can be demonstrating the placebo effect RIGHT IN FRONT OF MY FACE! Knowing that what I’m experiencing is a total facade of pure BS does not alter the affect at all!
Have a wee bit better day!
Letting the powder start to melt in your (moist) mouth for the win! In my opinion, that is. 🙂
I 100% notice a difference in taking powder than capsules. I read an article a while back that talked about other herbs and how your body can absorb them better when you actually taste them. They were talking about Turmeric and other herbs like that not kratom but it is all applicable. I agree with Brandon that letting sit in your mouth and absorb sublingually is the best and fastest way.
